Parkmöglichkeiten:
Halde Rheinpreussen – Parkplatz 2 / Alternativ Parkplatz an der Römerstraße 790 in 47443 Moers
Wann solltet ihr Starten:
Am Wochenende und an Feiertagen definitiv früh da sein. Der Parkplatz wird am Mittag recht schnell voll und der See sowie die Halde sind dann auch sehr gut besucht. Startet am besten früh morgens damit ihr eure Ruhe habt und ihr fertig seid, wenn der große Ansturm kommt.
Schuhwerk:
Im Sommer könnt ihr mit ganz normalen leichten Laufschuhen auf Wanderung gehen. Sobald es etwas feuchter wird und es geregnet hat, sind Wasserdichte Schuhe zu empfehlen die auch nass und matschig werden dürfen.
Schwierigkeitsgrad:
Aufgrund der geringen Höhenmeter ist die Route für jedermann gut zu absolvieren. Die Streckenlänge sollte nicht unterschätzt werden. Im Sommer empfiehlt es sich etwas zu Trinken mitzunehmen.
Bänke sind auf der Route regelmäßig und in ausreichender Anzahl zu finden und laden zur Erholung ein.
Highlights der Wanderroute:
1. Halde Rheinpreussen:
74 Meter hoch und eine der ersten begrünten und begehbaren Halden des Ruhrgebiets. Den „Gipfel“ schmückt „das Geleucht“, eine Grubenlampe die Abends Rot angeleuchtet wird.
2. Waldsee:
Toller See im Naturschutzgebiet mit einer begehbaren Insel. Vom See aus könnt ihr auch einen Blick auf die Halde Rheinpreussen mit der Grubenlampe werfen. Der See war mal eine Kiesgrube welche renaturisiert wurde.
3. Baerler Busch:
Schönes Naherholungsgebiet im Nordwesten von Duisburg. Vielfältiger Wald mit tollen Eichen und hohen Farnen. In dem Wald lassen sich außerdem viele Bombentrichter aus dem zweiten Weltkrieg finden. Der Baerler Busch trennt den Waldsee vom Lohheidesee und wird durch die A42 zerschnitten.
4. Lohheidesee:
Hier halten wir uns nur für eine kurze Strecke am Südufer auf. Auch der Lohheidesee ist durch Auskiesung entstanden und zu einem Naherholungsgebiet umfunktioniert worden. Dort findet man u.a Liegewiesen, einen Rundwanderweg, einen Segelclub, einen Angelclub sowie im westlichen Teil ein geschütztes Biotop und Artenschutzgebiet wo der Natur freien lauf gelassen wird.
5. Sonstiges:
Zwischendurch lassen sich außergewöhnliche Bänke entdecken. Ausserdem führt unsere Route über eine kleine Bahnstrecke. Ihr seid des Öfteren auch mal neben den gepflasterten Wegen unterwegs und entdeckt tolle Waldwege.
Unsere Meinung zu dieser Route:
Eine tolle Route für einen ausgedehnten Sonntagsspaziergang. Die Halde sowie der Waldsee sind ein kleines Highlight im Rhein/Ruhrgebiet. Der Baerler Busch ist vorallem im Frühling/Sommer perfekt zum abschalten.
